Privacy Policy
How Schaire collects, uses, and protects your information.
Last updated: July 12, 2026
Overview
In simple terms
We collect information needed to run Schaire, keep it secure, and respect the choices you make in settings.
This Privacy Policy describes how Schaire processes personal information when you use the Platform. We design privacy controls into the product: per-field profile visibility, discoverability settings, and private account standing. We do not sell your personal information. This policy should be read alongside our Cookie Policy and Terms of Use.
Information we collect
In simple terms
Account details, profile content, usage data, communications metadata, and payment information processed by Stripe.
We collect: (1) Account and identity information — name, email, username, authentication identifiers from Clerk, and verification-related submissions; (2) Profile and content — photos, posts, messages, and preferences you provide; (3) Usage and device data — log data, IP address, browser type, and interaction events needed for security and product improvement; (4) Payment metadata — subscription tier and transaction references processed by Stripe (we do not store full card numbers); (5) Support and moderation data — reports, appeals, and communications with trust & safety teams.
Why we use information
In simple terms
To operate the platform, keep it safe, enforce policies fairly, and improve the experience — not to build hidden surveillance profiles for unrelated advertising.
We use personal information to: provide and maintain the Platform; authenticate users; enforce Community Standards through our due-process framework; process payments and memberships; communicate service updates; detect fraud and abuse; comply with law; and improve features through aggregated analytics. We do not use ordinary social activity to publicly label users based on report volume or automated guilt assumptions.
Analytics
In simple terms
We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand how features are used. We minimize identifiable data in analytics where possible.
We may use analytics providers (such as PostHog, when enabled) to understand feature usage and reliability. Analytics configurations aim to avoid unnecessary collection of sensitive content. SCC operational metrics are separate from member-facing analytics.
Third-party services
In simple terms
We use trusted providers for auth, hosting, payments, and infrastructure. They process data under contractual safeguards.
Key processors include: Clerk (authentication), Supabase (database and storage), Vercel (hosting), Stripe (payments), and optional observability providers (Sentry, PostHog). Each processes data according to their terms and our data processing agreements where applicable. We do not authorize processors to use member data for their own unrelated marketing.
Your rights and choices
In simple terms
You can access, correct, export, or delete much of your data through settings. Contact us for requests we cannot automate yet.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your personal information, and to object to certain processing. Use in-product privacy settings first. Submit formal requests to privacy@schaire.com. We respond within timeframes required by applicable law. Account standing and moderation records may be retained as described in our data retention practices.
Data retention
In simple terms
We keep data only as long as needed for the purposes described, legal obligations, and safety.
We retain personal information while your account is active and for a defined period afterward for legal, security, and dispute-resolution purposes. Moderation cases, appeals, and audit logs may be retained longer where necessary for accountability. See our internal Data Retention Schedule (operations) for category-specific periods following legal review.
International users
In simple terms
Schaire may process data in countries where our providers operate. We apply safeguards appropriate to cross-border transfers.
If you access Schaire from outside Canada, your information may be transferred to and processed in Canada, the United States, or other countries where our service providers maintain facilities. We implement appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses where required) following legal review for EU/UK and other cross-border requirements.
